School Board Elections

Beginning Tuesday, September 22, 2020, any person interested in running for election to the Mascoutah School District #19 Board of Education may find nominating petitions at the St. Clair County Clerk’s website.

School board elections are non-partisan, and candidates cannot run under any party
affiliation. Candidates must be a citizen of the U.S., at least 18-years old, a resident of
Illinois and the School District for at least one year immediately preceding the election,
and a registered voter.

Election forms to be completed by potential candidates include a nominating petition,
statement of candidacy, statement of economic interest, and an optional loyalty oath. On
the nominating petition, candidates must gather the signatures of at least 50 voters
residing within the district. Candidates’ names will appear on the election ballot in the
order in which their nominating papers are received in the County Clerk’s Office.

Interested candidates must file the completed documents with the St. Clair County Clerk,
#10 Public Square, 2nd Floor, Belleville, IL, between 8:30am and 5:00pm, beginning Monday, December 14, 2020, through Monday, December 21, 2020, at 5:00pm.

District 19 is composed of four Congressional townships: Engelmann, Freeburg, Mascoutah, and Shiloh Valley. Of the seven members of the school board, no more than three can be elected from any one township. Presently, the board is composed of two members from Mascoutah Township, two from Engelmann Township, two from Belleville Township, and one from Freeburg Township.
