SUPERINTENDENT

SUPERINTENDENT'S MESSAGE

It is with great excitement and pride that I help lead the school community of Mascoutah Community Unit School District 19. I bring with me over twenty years of experience at the classroom, building, and district levels. I also bring with me a strong belief in open and honest communication and engagement with all stakeholders. When you see me in the hallways, at District events, or out in the community, please don’t hesitate to say hello.

Here at Mascoutah, we serve a diverse community comprising a large rural area mixed with a suburban environment of medium-sized cities and towns. Additionally we are proud to serve a large military population as District 19 is home to Scott Air Force Base. Our 104-square-mile District is just 28 miles east of St. Louis, Missouri, in southwestern Illinois.

The Metro-East region offers outstanding cultural attractions, a wide range of shopping and dining options, access to a variety of transportation amenities, and multiple colleges and universities. Having lived in the Metro-East for the vast majority of my life, I can also say that this region—especially the Mascoutah 19 school community—is an incredible place to raise a family.

District 19 prides itself on not only having an outstanding academic reputation, but also in providing a wide range of services and activities to engage students at all levels and interests. Mascoutah offers a highly trained staff, clean, modern facilities, outstanding technology, and a wide range of extracurricular activities.

As a former History teacher, I understand the importance of recognizing and appreciating history. I value and respect the programs, traditions, and services that have made Mascoutah the school community it is today. However, I am also committed to pushing forward and building upon best practices to ensure that all of our students have the opportunities needed to reach their fullest potential. Our challenge moving forward will be to maintain that culture of excellence while continuing to deal with a continually growing student population. With the support of dedicated staff, a wonderful community, and exceptional students, we will overcome any challenge. By working together, we will provide excellence in learning by engaging every student, every day!
