This week at Scott Elementary, we are proud to celebrate Week of the Military Child—a special time during the Month of the Military Child, which was established in 1986 by the Department of Defense to honor the strength, sacrifices, and resilience of military-connected children around the world.
Here at SES, every one of our students is part of a military family. That means every one of them knows what it’s like to face unique challenges—like frequent moves, long deployments, and having to say goodbye and hello more times than most kids their age. But it also means they know the true meaning of courage, flexibility, and community. And that’s something to be proud of.
We want our students to know how much we see you, we appreciate you, and we celebrate you—not just this week, but every single day. Your bravery and strength make our school stronger!
Throughout this week, we’ll be doing special activities to honor our amazing military kids!
Today, we kicked off Week of the Military Child with a morning "Clap-In" and a schoolwide parade on Scott Air Base in the afternoon. It was a great way to kick off a great week! #19SESPride #19EveryStudent

Today SES celebrates these remarkable ladies! They greet all visitors, students, staff, and families with warmth and kindness. They are the heart of Scott Elementary and we would be lost without them. Thank you for everything you do to make Scott Elementary the best! #19EveryStudent #19SESPride

Congratulations to Scott Elementary 3rd grader Adeline Symons, who was recognized at last night's Board of Education meeting for raising $3,167 for the American Heart Association during the Kid's Heart Challenge at SES during the month of February. Adeline was presented with a plaque from the American Heart Association and a commemorative coin from Dr. Deets for her efforts. Also recognized were SES PE teachers Mr. Barnes and Mr. Ballard for helping to raise over $300,000 total for the American Heart Association dating back to when SES began partnering with them in 2006. Congratulations Adeline, Mr. Barnes, Mr. Ballard, and all of our families who contributed to such a worthy cause. SES is a great place to be! #SESPride #19EveryStudent

When life makes you lemons, make lemonade! When bad weather caused St. Louis Go to reschedule the Read, Right, and Run race, many of our Scott Elementary runners were not able to attend. Yesterday, they stayed after school to finish the last 1.2 miles of the marathon they started in January. Congratulations to these kiddos and our SES runners who raced on April 5th for completing their challenge: 26 books read, 26 acts of kindness, and 26.2 miles ran! Way to go, marathoners! And a special thanks to our coaches, Mrs. Hilgendorf and Mrs. Essert for making it all happen! #19EveryStudent #SESPride

Scott Elementary Kindergarten loved seeing the chicks that our First Grade hatched. It was a great hands on learning experience to be able to touch and see the chicks in our own classroom. #19SESPride #19EveryStudent

During the month of February, Scott Elementary students participated in the Kids Heart Challenge (formerly known as Jump Rope for Heart) during their PE classes with Mr. Ballard and Mr. Barnes. Students learned about the importance of good heart health while raising funds for the American Heart Association. SES students and their families raised $25,840 this year for the AHA! Thank you to our SES families for their tremendous continued efforts for the American Heart Association, and to Mr. Ballard and Mr. Barnes to for their dedication to such a worthy cause. Below is a picture of our students who raised over $300 and as a result, won a free lunch from Sax's in Mascoutah. Thank you Sax's for your support! #19SESPride #19EveryStudent
