Superintendent Introduction

Dear Mascoutah CUSD 19 School Community,

It is my honor and pleasure to officially be part of Mascoutah 19. Although I was approved this past January and have spent the past six months transitioning in, July 1 was my official start. During these past several months, I’ve had the privilege of meeting so many wonderful people, and I can’t thank everyone enough for the warm welcome.

Mascoutah 19 has a well-earned reputation for academic excellence, and the many offerings outside of the classroom setting are incredible. It has been easy to see that Mascoutah truly tries to engage every student, every day. As I begin my tenure here at District 19, I bring with me 20 years of experience at the classroom, building, and district levels. I also bring with me a strong belief in open and honest communication and engagement with all stakeholders. When you see me in the hallways, at District events, or out in the community, please don’t hesitate to say hello.

As a former History teacher, I understand the importance of recognizing and appreciating history. I value and respect the programs, traditions, and services that have made Mascoutah the school community it is today. However, I am also committed to pushing forward and building upon best practices to ensure that all of our students have the opportunities needed to reach their fullest potential.

The level of community involvement and purple pride was another strong factor in my desire to be part of Mascoutah 19. I have lived in the St. Louis Metro area most of my life and was very familiar with the District.  However, after moving into the District with my wife and sons in early June and experiencing what a great school community this is, I’m even more excited for this opportunity.

To the Mascoutah 19 Board of Education, our entire leadership team, teachers, staff, and school community, I thank you for this opportunity and will work hard every day on your behalf. We have some great days ahead of us, and I’m really excited about the year ahead.

Thank you for all that you do, and I hope you have a great rest of your summer.

Sincerely,

Dr. Dave Deets

Superintendent
